Hi GBNY Friends!

For over half a decade, we’ve been wanting to tell you this story. It’s a story about a woman’s last day in New York City, how she stumbles upon a second chance at love, and how she chooses to live the rest of her life. Our inspiration came from a Washington Post article with the headline: “Terminally-ill woman fulfills bucket list wish.”  We’ll get to the specifics.

We are passionate about telling this story because not only is it a love letter to New York - a fast paced rollercoaster of romance - but it also begs you to consider, regardless of ideology and background, how personal choice may be the most powerful part of who we are.  In the end, our story is a thought-provoking tribute to love and  ‘last wish’ legacies.

Goodbye New York is especially relevant now because it’s a celebration of life. Since 2020, we’ve had to reconcile with our mortality in new and terrifying ways.  But despite these realities, we continue to hear how love, a yearning for connection and the strength of the human spirit are what endure.

2022 was a very productive year for the show. In the spring, we released an original concept album on all streaming platforms and performed a sold-out concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below. Following the success of this concert, 54 Below immediately offered us an encore performance. We filmed two music videos, Platonic Tea (released in the spring of 2023) and Make the Story Matter (released summer of 2023 and currently featured on the homepage). In the fall of 2022, we brought on a new team member, choreographer/director Abbey O’Brien (Jagged Little Pill, Waitress, Moulin Rouge) for a two week workshop at Open Jar Studio in Times Square and two industry presentations at Theatre 555 on 42nd St. We have received encouraging praise and invaluable feedback from those two weeks. Plus, we filmed the presentation! Please email us at gbnymusical@gmail.com if you’re interested in seeing the video.

After a few tweaks to the current script, our immediate next step is to find a “out of town” stage for the show --on the road to our ultimate destination: Broadway. Our deepest gratitude for your interest in Goodbye New York. Please use the email above if you’d like to get involved. We look forward to you joining us on this journey!
